Daniel Keyes was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1927. He is best known for the award-winning short story and novel, Flowers for Algernon, which was adapted for the film, Charly, and for the psychological study, The Minds of Billy Milligan. Keyes became an English and creative writing professor at Ohio University in 1966. He was honored by that institution with professor emeritus status in 2000.
